FAQs

What primary photographic style do you identify with?

Contemporary, Photojournalism, Portraiture, Traditional / Posed

What do your packages include?

Albums, Custom Graphic Design, Digital Files, High Resolution Images, Prints, Proof CD of All Images, Thank You Cards, Video Montage

Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?

Yes. I also offer traditionally printed darkroom black and white prints on fiber based papers.

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?

Yes, I am very comfortable working in all types of lighting conditions. I can use available light (my favorite), or I have plenty of lights to create my own lighting (my other favorite).

Is your media preference film or digital?

I work primarily with digital. However, I am always very happy to supplement the digital work with film images. I have 35mm, 120mm, and 4"x5" film cameras and a black and white darkroom.

How many photographers do you work with?

I typically work alone, however, when the size of the event warrants additional photographers (more than 100 guests), I know many great photographers to invite.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?

Absolutely! I wouldn't miss it for anything!

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event (wedding) in a day? Weekend?

No way. Never invite trouble.

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?

Yes, I have a network of experienced colleagues I can call upon.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?

Equipment needs vary by event. I always arrive with more equipment than I expect to need. And then when I think I have everything I could possibly need, I pack some more.

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?

Yes, always. I'm a chronic over-packer.

Do you charge hourly or full day?

I charge by the full day. Keeping things simple is my goal.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?

I do not require, or prefer, a meal break. I typically take a couple of very short breaks during quiet moments to have water and a small snack. I prefer not to sit and eat a large meal while working because I don't want to miss anything.

Do you charge for travel?

Because I want to travel more, especially for LGBT weddings, there will be no travel fees for 2011 for any weddings occurring on the East Coast, as long as you book at least 45 days in advance.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?

Some proofs are available within the first week, typically the reception photos and a few selected highlights. All proofs are complete by 30 days after the event.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?

You will have a private online proofing gallery, and/or actual printed proofs. Printed proofs are optional, but neat. However, I"m happy to save a tree if you prefer.

How long can the client keep the proofs?

The proofs are for yours forever.

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?

I retain copyright to all images, however I provide a written and signed copyright release for you allowing unlimited personal use and printing of your images.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?

I prefer to; however, this is negotiable. I respect your privacy and I will never insist on retaining any right to publish photos of you. But I hope you'll agree that your photos are amazing enough to share!

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?

I will give you an archival disk with processed and print ready photos, along with a personal use release so you can print your photos and use them on all your favorite social networks.

Will images be available for viewing online?

Yes. You will have an online private gallery (or two or three) that is password protected. We will pass out cards at your reception with the website address and password so that your friends and family can go see your photos as soon as the day after your wedding.

What kind of albums do you offer?

We have several album options for you to choose from. All albums and books are layflat style. Albums are photographically printed and are either leather or linen bound. Books are press printed and have custom designed printed covers.

When will the client get the final album?

Albums are ordered immediately upon your final approval and generally arrive 2-4 months after that.
